Alto Horn YAH203
Since its invention in the 19th century, the alto horn (also known as the tenor horn in Britain and the alto saxo in Latin America) has occupied a unique sonic space in most brass bands. It commonly replaces the French Horn in British-style brass bands and select marching bands. Brass band performers in need of its classic tone will love the Yamaha YAH-203 Alto Horn. Like all Yamaha brass instruments, this horn is built to last and will provide an enjoyable playing experience for years to come. The YAH-203 comes pitched in Eb and has a yellow brass body and upright 8-inch yellow brass bell for a classic sound with an excellent dynamic range. It also has a gold brass leadpipe for clear notes and accurate intonation.
The YAH-203 alto (tenor) horn provides a solid tonal foundation to hold down the low-midrange of an ensemble. It has a small 0.462-inch bore design that fortifies a beginner’s embouchure; it also provides a natural playing feel, which is something that students will undoubtedly enjoy. The leadpipe connects to the first valve instead of the traditional third valve design to make it easier to maintain a good buzz. The YAH-203’s unique leadpipe design also lends a more modern timbre to the overall tone.
