Launched in 1962 at the foot of Japan’s Takamine mountains, Takamine has been designing and building acoustic guitars that are seen in the hands of some of music’s biggest stars. With quality and value as guiding principles, Takamine’s instruments employ the finest tonewoods, construction techniques, and technical innovations, such as the proprietary TP4T preamp system found in this guitar.
Takamine’s TP-4TD preamp system
The GD51CE sports Takamine’s TP-4TD preamp, giving you rich, clear-sounding amplified output — instantly. The TP-4TD features a gain knob; a tuner; an active shelving EQ with bass, middle, and treble sliders; and a low battery indicator. The preamp is switched on by plugging a standard instrument cable into the endpin/strap-pin jack. Unplugging the cable turns the preamp off. The TP-4TD is powered by a single 9-volt battery.
