Thanks to voicing shaped by public opinion and a special capsule design that fuses traits of dynamic, ribbon, and condenser mics, the Aston Element Bundle microphone offers podcasters, voice-over artists, singers, and musicians the luxury of not having to choose between different mic types. Aston conducted open-submission blind listening tests with the public at large until the company settled on the materials and technologies that provided a studio-quality sound fine-tuned for vocals and acoustic instruments, whether they’re miked in the studio, at home, or even on stage.
In the construction of this mic, Aston devised a large-diaphragm, active moving-coil capsule technology called Ridyon, which blends the best performance qualities of dynamic, ribbon, and condenser capsule designs—the solid bass and enhanced off-axis rejection of dynamics, the organic sound of ribbons, and the high-end detail and ultralow noise of condensers. Plus, the mic comes with its own custom magnetic pop filter to control vocal plosives and a proprietary shockmount to inhibit vibration noise. Due to its active circuitry, the Element requires 48V phantom power from an XLR-connected preamp, mixer, or audio interface.
